Cassandra Day + Wakanda Forever in-person meetup!
Details
Join the Cassandra community to learn and get exclusive early access to Black Panther: Wakanda Forever! If you are interested in learning about Apache Cassandra® or are an experienced community member, you’ll love what we have lined up for you.
To celebrate Cassandra, we have a half-day full of activities.
- Hands-on Workshop: Building data-driven applications with NoSQL and Apache Cassandra®
- Cassandra Meetup with community talks and food.
Attend either or both and receive a movie ticket and popcorn/soda vouchers for you and your guest to see Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
To register, please follow this link. RSVPing on Meetup isn’t a guarantee to get you in, and demand will be high. Sign up soon and get your spot.

Quine case-study session: Cassandra NoSQL for Real-time graph ETL and modern Data Pipelines
Speaker: Michael Aglietti, thatDot
Quine is the open source streaming graph developed by the team at thatDot. Quine provides the real-time graph ETL tools required for streaming event data analysis. Quine maintains a stateful representation of all data streamed through so that complex results are built from the combination of new streaming data and potentially very old data—all without having to manage any time windows.
Persisting high-volume, "low signal" data in realtime is hard for SQL or relational databases. Detection would require complex JOINs, if detection was even possible at all, and often requires use of time windows. This is why persisting Quine data is a perfect fit for Cassandra/Astra DB. Astra DB brings the power of Cassandra to the Quine case with none of the operational hassles.
What to expect from the session
- Using Streaming/Real-time Graph with some practical examples
- Learn how Astra is suitable for persisting High-volume, low-signal data
ACID transactions in Apache Cassandra
Presenter: Artem Chebotko, DataStax
Are you in this camp? “I can’t use Cassandra because it doesn’t have transactions.” Have you heard about CEP-15, featuring a new consensus protocol called Accord? This proposal is to add fully ACID-compliant global transactions to Apache Cassandra. Well, that’s going to change everything! Let's talk about how it will work and how it will change the way you use Cassandra.
- A user view of how Accord enables global transactions
- Changes in CQL Syntax
- Examples of how it could be used in your application
If you are interested in hands-on training for Apache Cassandra®, there will be an optional training time before the meetup from 12:30-3. Register for free!
