DCC's "Monday Moves" along the Metropolitan Branch Trail to Rock Creek Park.

Join DCC and Conte’s Bike Shop (Navy Yard) for a ride along the Metropolitan Branch Trail to Rock Creek Park.

From Conte’s Navy Yard, we ride North on 3rd and 2nd Streets to the Metropolitan Branch Trail. We go up the Metropolitan Branch Trail (MBT) to Fort Totten, then ride West gently uphill through several Northwest neighborhoods, followed by a nice downhill South on Blagden Avenue to Rock Creek Park. From there it’s a couple of climbs up Ridge Road to our rest stop at Carter Barron Amphitheatre. After the rest stop, we ride downhill on Beach Drive all the way to Pierce Mill, where there’s an optional climb up Tilden Street and back down to Pierce Mill. From Pierce Mill we ride South on the Rock Creek Trail all the way down to Virginia Avenue, then along the river past the West Potomac Park Sport Field (volleyball!) to the bottom of the golf course on Hains Point. Next we ride over to The Wharf, ride along the river to the Titanic Memorial, then West on P Street and finally back to Conte's. The full route is approximately 26 miles with 1,200 feet of climbing.

This ride is geared towards our newer riders (with a chill pace and no one left behind), but all are welcomed. The ride is on streets, trails and sidewalks. There will be a safety briefing to help riders become more comfortable with riding in groups.

We will meet at Conte’s Navy Yard Bike Shop at 10 am and depart at 10:15.

All riders should bring their own hydration and nutrition, as well as a spare inner tube.

*** Please, no music that can be heard by other riders or ear headphones that impede your hearing.

Parking is limited at the Navy Yard, so for those driving, an option is to park at Anacostia Park (aquatic center) and take 11th street bridge to M Street, then a left on 4th.

all riders ride at their own risk

If there is a chance of inclement weather expected on Monday, a cancelation notice will be posted by 9:00 pm on Sunday; otherwise, the ride will take place.
