Always wanted to try woodworking but didn’t know where to start? This is that starting point. In a world of screens and subscriptions, woodworking lets you walk away with something solid, useful, and made by your own hands.

It’s no surprise this is our most popular course. Woodworking is endlessly satisfying, and this 18-hour class gives you a strong, confidence-building foundation whether your goal is building furniture, restoring an antique, or finally fixing that trim at home.
We start with the fundamentals. Students learn to safely and effectively use a wide range of stationary machines and hand tools, gaining hands-on experience that translates directly to real-world projects. From the very beginning, the focus is on building skills you’ll use again and again.

As the course progresses, you’ll dive into essential woodworking theory, learn how wood behaves, and develop smart stock-selection and milling practices that minimize waste and maximize results. You’ll square up rough lumber, work from a plan, and complete your first project while learning proper finishing techniques and how to tune machines for clean, accurate cuts.

Students who complete this course are signed off to independently use the woodshop and wood lathe during open shop hours as members. The class meets once a week for five weeks—and by the end, you’ll have the skills, confidence, and shop access to keep building.
