Join us on May 19th at The New Motor in Gowanus to experience some classic Altecs powered by a pair of RCA monoblocks and hear why they're so special, along with some cool upgraded Dynaco projects and more.

Friday 5/19, 7pm, 116 8th Street, between 2nd and 3rd Ave, in Brooklyn

***Space is limited - please RSVP to pete@gowanusaudio.com***

We had such a good time at the last meetup (about 20 of us? how late did we go??), figured we should do it again. (Most attendees came via my email list, so don't get dissuaded if you only see 2 folks going!)

This time we'll have a couple classic vintage projects - some Altec 601C drivers driven by beautiful (and rare!) RCA SP-10 monoblocks - from my friend Jack Schow, a Dynaco ST-70 build from my friend Zac, and maybe some other Dynaco clones and Altec gear.

Have gear from the same era? Want to bring it along? Let me know!

It seems like classic Altec gear is currently having a moment, but for a lot of folks, they've known for decades what everyone else is just discovering. If you haven't ever heard a setup like this, you owe it to yourself to come by. Call it "musicality" or "PRaT" or just sounding "real" - there's a character with these setups that isn't commonplace these days, and that's why we hunt these pieces down and build new projects based on these old designs.

We'll talk about what makes this gear special, what the the restoration process entailed, and, of course, give it all a listen.

(I also promise a more effective soldering lesson this time for anyone interested.)

Let me know if you can make it.
