**This Wednesday DIYBio welcomes you to a special In-Person talk at [Hacklab.to!**](http://hacklab.to%21%2A%2A/)
Join us for a presentation and discussion about the exciting new field of Organoids and Organs-on-a-chip. There has been a movement to reduce animal testing to a minimum and one way to do this is by using miniature models that accurately mimic human disease. Another benefit to these models is that their small size and good design allows for efficient and appropriate screening of drugs to find new treatments and understand how they work.

This week we are fortunate to have an engineering expert in the field of Organs-on-a-Chip, Nims Thavandiran, to deliver an enlightening overview and lead the discussion. He has worked in this area for many years, specifically Hearts-on-a-chip.

Also, our own group will show what we have been working on in this area, some of our models and how they have evolved as we met with common pitfalls with this relatively new technology.

We’ll also have open discussion and updates on other community projects happening at the lab. Come meet other biology-curious folks, share ideas, and see how you can get involved. At [DIYBio.to,](http://diybio.to%2C/) our mission is to bridge the gap between biology and the community by making science hands-on, approachable, and meaningful. Our events are hosted in an inclusive space where curiosity is always welcome. Check out our ongoing work and projects at diybio.to, and our outreach initiative at experiment.com/.

Membership: If you share our passion and vision, we invite you to become a member of hacklab.to and [DIYBIO.to.](http://diybio.to./) Come visit us, and let's engage in a conversation about [DIYBIO.to.](http://diybio.to./) Your journey into the world of DIY biology awaits!
Donations are welcome to keep our space going and filled with kits and equipment needed for community biology projects! Snacks are also provided, and donations are most welcome for them.

Please remember to ask before taking someone’s photo. Respect others and our shared space. We are committed to maintaining a harassment-free environment for everyone. By attending, you agree to help us keep our community welcoming and respectful.
