Lightning Talk #1
Realtime Django - Use Channels for Websockets
Lorenz Padberg
"The problems we want to solve with webapps today require a lot more than they did in the early days of django. By using Channels and Websockets we could create Streams from the backend to the frontend... Going beyond the usual request response cycle and create "realtime" experiences. In this quick talk I give you teaser of what could be done by real world examples."
Lorenz Padberg is a developer at Iterativ where we develop Django Webapps for a wide range of clients, from education to Industrial monitoring tools...
Lightning Talk #2
Django Girls
Raphael Das Gupta
In this talk, I'll present Django Girls, a worldwide effort by volunteers to organize programming workshops for women* and girls*. It allows females* of all backgrounds and all over the globe a glimpse into the world of software development, without requiring any prior knowledge of them. Going from zero to a minimal but functional blog software that they'll deploy to the web, participants are introduced to some of the tools and techniques actually used by software developers, all in a safe atmosphere where they can be sure they won't be the only girl around.
Raphael is software developer and teaching assistant at HSR Hochschule für Technik Rapperswil. He has coached at two Django Girls workshops, has co-organized another two and is involved in improving and translating the Django Girls tutorial. Other than that, he's involved in OpenStreetMap and is learning the language Esperanto.
