For the occasion, we’re excited to welcome Adyam Tesfamariam.
Adyam (she/her) is a passionate writer, DJ, community organiser, student of social sciences, and a freelance instructor who specializes in anti-racism and diversity. Originally from Eritrea, she now resides in Berlin.
Having organised workshops at several community spaces – AfroPolitan Berlin, Each One Teach One – and appeared at festivals such as Re:publica and Fluctoplasma and as part of the series Elbphilharmonie Explains, her work organizes around liberating potentials through Afrofuturism, writing, somatics and club culture.
About the topic:
We will have a conversational approach to the impact of Afrofuturism in the world of popular music.
We will center our attention on providing you with an overview of Afrofuturism - its definition, historical background, and underlying concept.
Additionally, we will delve into the realm of influential musicians and recordings within this constantly evolving genre.
Adyam will guide you through a journey that encompasses the cultural aesthetics and historical significance associated with the fusion of African diaspora culture and music.
