Join us for the closing reception of MIDCITY—a group exhibition and portrait of place.

As is tradition at DMST Atelier, we’ll mark the closing with a Community Feed: grilling on the street, sharing food, and welcoming neighbors into the gallery for a final chance to experience the exhibition.

5:00 PM - Performance by Zulubutterfly
7:00 PM Steve Galindo will lead a conversation with artist Nehemiah Cisneros. Later in the day, Zulubutterfly will return with the dance he first performed at our opening reception.

On the menu: Chili, Cornbread & Accoutrements (donations of water and soda are always welcome)

About the exhibition:

Mid-City is one of Los Angeles’s most vibrant neighborhoods — a cultural crossroads alive with soul food institutions, bustling taco stands, Ethiopian cafés, theaters, murals, and music venues. Balancing legacy with reinvention, it remains rooted in creativity, resilience, and inclusivity.

It is within this landscape that MIDCITY takes shape. The exhibition brings together artworks that reflect the diversity of the neighborhood, amplify its resilience, and engage with its ongoing cycles of transformation. Each piece resonates with the rhythms of Mid-City, celebrating community life while also acknowledging the tensions and reinventions that shape it.
