What we’re about
Come one, come all. Our artistic lineage is considerable as black lgbtq folk. From James Baldwin and Essex Hemphill to Jewel Gomez and Audre Lorde, our otherworldly talent for putting words to the page has been unprecedented in the English-speaking world.
As an aspiring writer, I strongly believe our art needs to be developed in community and in conversation, and we need to be in that process together.
I have tried to find a writing group that caters to black queer aspiring writers in the DMV area, but since I haven’t found one that is to my liking, I thought I’d make one instead.
Will you join me? Let’s give our dreams form and our imagination an infinite canvas on which to reflect our deepest concerns, our fears, our hopes.
All writing levels are welcome, from the aspiring to the published and well-established.
Looking forward to growing with you.
