Dueling Hikes - Signal Knob 10.3 mile option "Harder Group"

Stealing an idea from another group. We will do a dueling hike to allow different ability levels to reach the top to luxuriate over the views of Strasburg.

This is the harder option that does the regular loop hike for signal knob which includes Buzzards Rock Overlook. It has faster elevation gains, rocky terrain, switchbacks and requires you to cross over other trails without getting lost. https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/virginia/signal-knob-loop-trail. Needless to say, I will be in the Easier Group not this one.

Hard Group will depart at 9 am from signal knob parking lot and take the Massanutten Trail (Orange Blazes) and complete the loop. I've included a picture of the area so that you can see that if you pass Elizabeth Furnace you know you've gone too far. There is ample parking here but it does get a bit crowded on nice days.

Since we are in drought conditions you must bring water as most streams will be completely dry. If we time it right you should meet up with us at the radio tower around lunch time. Please plan take a lunch break from 12-1 at the radio tower overlook. You will arrive back at the same parking lot you started approximately 6 hours later. I have an opening for a leader for the "Harder group" so if anyone wants to volunteer please DM me. I'll let you set your own rules for your group. The intent is not to race but to meet up at roughly the same time at the overlook.
