What we’re about

Hello ladies- this is a local women's empowerment and community circle for those in the DMV area! We are a women’s-only meet-up group based out of Ashburn, Virginia open to all in the DC, Maryland and Virginia areas and beyond.

Important: This group will be liberal leaning in nature and will not focus on religious content. (That doesn’t mean you can’t be conservative or religious- but rather that will not be the focus of this group :) ) Religion is a complicated topic, however, we will have events that will explore intersections between women and religion in this group's discussions for the purposes of education and thoughtful discussion.

We love women, the LGBTQ+ community, pronouns, trans folks, those with disabilities (and men of course)- and that will be the expectation for how this group’s spaces will be respected.

A little about me: my name is Ally- I am 27 and have only been living in Ashburn for a year and a half! I work professionally in the field of sustainability which interconnects the environment, economy, and our communities, seeking to empower people, women, people of color, Indigenous communities and those within the LGBTQ+ Community.

Coming into this new year I have found it is important now more than ever to develop community support systems and connect with other women in our communities.

I wanted to create a group I wish I had- supporting one another and creating a safe space for sharing how we feel- and reminding eachother we are not alone! And together we are powerful, beautiful and strong.

This group will host normal social events for fun, create safe spaces for women to just come, talk and connect about the good and bad things going on, and more specific women’s empowerment events that could cover topics like the right to bodily autonomy, the right to sexual health and reproductive care, the right to abortion, institutional sexism and racism, empowerment training via Women’s March for learning how to become a digital defender in online spaces and forums, historical or educational content relating to women’s empowerment, how to moderate your intake of social media and content with the ongoing presidential administration, keeping up with the bills and legislation on the House and Senate Floors for hearings, international women’s empowerment movements, and other relevant political news and updates. In addition, providing opportunity sharing for volunteering, marching and protests.

The above is not an exhaustive list, but I would like to become an activist and develop tools others might appreciate in these times we live.

Thank you!😊
