I’m happy to announce our SECOND official DMV Alternative Musician’s Network meetup!

I know it’s a little short notice, but I wanted to get the date out now so everyone has time to put it on their calendars!
I’ve also been paying attention to the scheduling poll. I’ll be using those results to help plan future meetups and events around the times people actually prefer. 👀
🏠 BIGGER SPACE THIS TIME!
We learned a lot from Meetup #001, so I picked a larger location this time with more room for everyone to hang out, meet people, and mingle.
There’s spacious parking available in the back, and the parking area will be our initial meetup point.
👋 ARRIVAL
I’ll be outside around 3:00 PM to:
• Get everyone together
• Get a headcount
• Hand out name tags
• Hand out our color-coded stickers
• Meet any new faces
🏷️ NEW NAME TAG + STICKER SYSTEM!
We learned something from Meetup #001:
Knowing what instrument somebody plays is useful — but knowing WHY they’re looking for musicians is even more useful.
So this time, your NAME TAG will show your INTENTION, and your colored sticker will show the INSTRUMENT you are or the instrument you’re seeking.
When you arrive, YOU will write your intention on your name tag and choose/place the appropriate sticker yourself.
YOUR INTENTION:
🎶 JAM
“I just want to play with people and see if we vibe.”
No commitment. No pressure to start or join a band.
👀 OPEN
“I’m open to musical opportunities, projects, jams, or whatever sounds interesting.”
For people who want to play but aren’t completely sure what they want yet.
🎸 JOIN BAND
“I want to join an already-functioning or established band/project.”
For musicians who would rather join something already moving than start from zero.
🛠️ STARTING
“I’m starting a new band/project from the ground up and looking for musicians.”
📣 BAND SEEKING
“I’m representing an existing/functioning band or project that is currently looking for new members.”
Then use the COLOR STICKER to show the relevant instrument:
🔴 RED — Guitar
🔵 BLUE — Bass
⚪ WHITE — Vocals
🟢 GREEN — Drums
🟠 ORANGE — Keys / Piano / Synth
HOW IT WORKS:
JAM + 🟢 = “I’m a drummer looking to jam.”
OPEN + 🔴 = “I’m a guitarist open to opportunities.”
JOIN BAND + 🔵 = “I’m a bassist looking to join an established band.”
STARTING + 🟢 = “I’m starting a project and need a drummer.”
BAND SEEKING + ⚪ = “My existing band needs a vocalist.”
If you’re STARTING or BAND SEEKING, use the sticker for the instrument YOU’RE LOOKING FOR.
If you’re JAM, OPEN, or JOIN BAND, use the sticker for YOUR MAIN INSTRUMENT.
And remember:
NO INTENTION / NO STICKER = “I’m just here to hang out.”
That is completely fine too! Nobody is required to be looking for a band just because they came to the meetup.
ONCE EVERYONE IS TOGETHER
I’ll give a short welcome, talk about what’s been happening with the club since Meetup #001, explain the updated system, and give everyone a heads-up about some of the ideas I’m working on for future events and activities.
Then we’ll head inside Haraz, get comfortable, grab coffee/food if you want, talk, mingle, and meet some musicians!
AFTERWARD — GUITAR CENTER!
Once we’re done at Haraz, we’ll head over to the nearby Guitar Center together.
That’ll be our chance to mess around with instruments, talk gear, hear how people play, show off a little, and get to know each other as musicians.
🥁 And drummers — there should actually be a drum kit for y’all this time. 😂
