In person game! New Player Focus ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฎโš”๏ธ

You want to play D&D 5e. I want to teach you.

In this roughly 2 hour session, we're going to work together to learn the basics and go on an exciting adventure called The Road to Greyhaven. You and your team have one mission: get some merchants from point A to point B safely and with their cargo intact. But one thing you know about adventuring...its never that easy.

This game is designed for absolute beginners. Yes...you, who has never played. We want you here. And if you're more experienced, and want to help guide some newbies, we'd love to have you!

I provide everything game related you need to play, I just ask you bring a pencil and character sheet if you choose one ahead of time. Don't worry, I'll have plenty of premade characters with me for you to use if needed.

My GMing style: player driven, putting you and your character at the center of the plot. Your choices will decide the outcome: from heroic victory to an untimely end. And I'm here to help you, especially if you're new to RPGs.

Character creation guidelines ahead of time (if you want to create your own):

  1. We're using material from the Players Handbook to keep it simple/straight forward.

  2. Characters must use point buy or standard array.

  3. Characters may not be evil aligned, and in their backstory have some reason why they need the other adventurers! This is a team game, you're working together, and you're here to support one another.

  4. Please use standard starting equipment.

  5. If your character has the flying ability, they will need to stay with the group.

Policies:

D&D is an awesome experience, and my tables are open to all players. I'll teach you everything you need to know, and everybody we play with is very welcoming to new players. Players 13 and up are welcome. Any player under the age of 18 must have an adult present in the venue with them the entire time.

Venue is a family friendly bar, game suitable for age 13+. All are welcome at my table and I uphold a community expectation that all participants treat one another with respect: this is a collaborative experience so work together!

What should you bring?

Please bring pencil and paper. Be ready to socialize! I run a very interactive table.

Also, please purchase a beverage (or two or three...) from the bar. They have non-alcoholic options as well.

About your host

I'm Adam Scott, head GM of DnD Club. I've been organizing and running games for new players for the past four years, and have helped over 5,000 players get into the game. I taught professionally in the classroom for 15 years.

I haven't run and IRL table in awhile, so I thought it'd be nice to get back to the table and bring some players together.

I learned how to play role playing games virtually as soon as I could roll dice and haven't looked back. A huge fantasy and science fiction fan, I've engaged in immersive storytelling for 20+ years, both with friends and in my classroom as a career teacher.
