Doc School is led by Oliver Zimmermann, a Berlin and London based director and DOP, alongside visiting experts. Hands-on workshops take you through the whole process of making a documentary: finding your story, writing, camera, lighting, sound, interviews, recording actuality, editing and grading.
The courses welcome complete beginners as well as people refining their craft. The emphasis is on creation and story-telling, not on having the most up-to-date technical gear.

An immersive six-week course designed for aspiring documentary filmmakers. Hands-on workshops will guide you through the entire process of documentary filmmaking, from discovering and developing your story to writing, camera, lighting, sound recording, conducting interviews, recording actuality, editing and grading your film for submission to festivals.
You will learn essential skills while receiving personalised feedback on your projects. Oliver Zimmermann, a Berlin and London based director and DOP, will lead the course alongside visiting experts who specialise in various aspects of filmmaking, providing focused workshops on their areas of expertise.
By the end of the course, you'll have created a short documentary that showcases your unique perspective, ready for submission to film festivals. Whether you're a complete beginner or looking to refine your skills, this workshop offers a supportive environment to cultivate your creativity and develop your filmmaking craft.
