Docker Cambridge November: Docker on Windows

Details
Join us for the Cambridge local edition of this season’s Play-with-Docker workshop series!
Windows has been the dominant PC operating system for the last 20 years. However, how can we run our workloads/systems inside Windows (and my previous answer has been to get rid of Windows). In this session we will learn about running Docker on Windows and adopting the applications you have to run within everyone's fave environments (Docker).
Part 1: Docker 101 Windows Containers
In this lab we'll help you get familiar with running Docker on Windows. We'll look at different ways to run Windows containers, and we'll build a couple of simple applications and deploy them.
Table of Contents:
- The Play with Docker Lab Environment
- Run some simple Windows Docker containers
- Explore the filesystem and users in Windows containers
- Package and run custom apps using Docker
Part 2: Modernising a .NET Application
Moving an application to Docker doesn't mean you have to re-write your whole application. In this hands on technical lab, you'll containerize an older, monolithic .NET application without changing any code. And you'll see the benefit of running it on Docker. Then in a few simple steps you'll build additional services in separate containers, breaking features out of the monolith into separate containers, without rewriting the app.
