Docker for the Internet of Things

Details

In this presentation of the Balena.io Platform Connor will share his experience building containers for IoT services.

The internet of things is a nebulous term used to define the massive ubiquitous growth in the number of edge devices. For the purpose of this conversation we define an edge device to be a micro computer or micro controller, connected to a network that collects data and controls other specialized systems.

Devices that meet this definition have been in use for decades but what is changing very rapidly now is the numerous new use cases that are being invented as a function of the decreasing size and cost of manufacturing of microchips.

Connor will also talk about how you can get started with IoT devices. And cover the cost and open source resources available to get going!

Before Connor's presentation on IoT we will hear from Fabian a story on how he used Docker to make his life easier provisioning servers at his job.
