What to expect?
Despite the growing demand for data science skills, women continue to be underrepresented in this field, particularly in leadership positions. This workshop aims to explore the challenges women face in data science and provide strategies to increase visibility and advancement opportunities.
Some potential topics that could be covered in the workshop include:

  • Personal branding and communication: how to promote your achievements and expertise effectively
  • Overcoming imposter syndrome and building confidence as a woman in data
  • Building a strong professional network: tips for networking and mentorship
  • Navigating workplace challenges and biases to advance in your career
  • Addressing the gender gap in data science: exploring the root causes and potential solutions

By the end of the workshop, participants should have a better understanding of the challenges and opportunities they are facing and have concrete strategies to increase their visibility and advance their careers.

Neema Balolebwami Nelly is from Democratic Republic of Congo and she has been living in Barcelona since 2017. She is a Data Scientist and founder of EMEA Venture Builder, a technology company building Artificial Intelligence solutions for enterprise applications.

Talk Outline

  • My journey as a Data Scientist and entrepreneur: challenges and opportunities
  • Introduction to design thinking: what it is and how it can be applied to problem-solving
  • Group work: participants will work in groups to apply design thinking principles to a real-world problem
  • Sharing and feedback: groups will present their ideas to the larger group and receive feedback and insights from their peers
