Quest session 7 : Prospects for human survival

Details
Quest is a stimulating and informative series of discussions (on eight consecutive Wednesdays) about humanist answers to some of life’s biggest questions. Free entry – all welcome. Don't worry if you have missed earlier sessions – you can drop in to any session. Facilitated by David Warden. Coffee and tea reception at 7pm for session start at 7.30pm. Suggested voluntary cash donation of £3.00 or £5.00 if you are enjoying tea or coffee on arrival is appreciated but not obligatory.
Our seventh session is entitled "Prospects for human survival - the top six threats to human survival and how to stop worrying about them". There's a lot of doom-mongering around and many young people are growing up in an "end-of-times" atmosphere. This is changing behaviour and harming mental health. Is worrying about existential threats a rational thing for humanists to do? Or should we insulate ourselves with resilience strategies in order to enjoy our one life? Come along and join in with what we expect to be one of our liveliest sessions (even if you haven't been to earlier sessions in the series because each one stands on its own).
David Warden is chairman of Dorset Humanists, editor of Humanistically Speaking magazine and an honorary member of Humanists UK. David is an ex-Christian and he has a degree in Christian theology. He had a varied career in business training in Bournemouth and Dorchester and, after retiring, he qualified as a humanistic therapist.
