Megan Manson is an excellent speaker, and this will be her second visit to Dorset Humanists. As part of our aim to promote ‘religious literacy’, we are looking forward to what promises to be an enjoyable and informative talk on modern Pagan traditions. Megan will offer an engaging overview of the key beliefs and practices within this diverse spiritual path, exploring why it resonates with so many British people in the 21st century. While acknowledging the subjective nature of religious belief, she will not be seeking to persuade anyone of its ‘truth’. Instead, drawing on her personal experiences, Megan will share what this path means to her.
Megan grew up in a Catholic household and attended a strict Catholic school, but her father’s parallel interest in mythology, esotericism, and New Age spirituality meant she was exposed at an early age to alternative ways of thinking. Their family shop, which sold Pagan and New Age items, quietly bridged these worlds. Eventually, both she and her father left Catholicism. While living in Japan, Megan encountered Shinto and a more fluid approach to religion, sparking a series of spiritual experiences that deepened her interest in Paganism. Returning to Britain at the end of 2009, she committed herself fully to the Pagan path, and in 2016, she founded a local Pagan group to foster community and spiritual exploration.
