Compass is an 8-week series of discussions which will explore, and put into practice, the humanist values and virtues which underpin human happiness, resilience and flourishing. Exclusively designed and hosted by Dorset Humanists. No essays or exams or prior knowledge needed! All you need is a curious mind about human life and its challenges.

### Compass Session 8: Carrying the Compass Forward - What this journey means for us and our humanist community

As we come to the end of our Compass journey, we’ll take time to reflect on what we’ve learnt — about ourselves, about each other, and about what it means to live as humanists today. Together we’ll explore how the virtues we’ve spoken about and practised — such as intellectual humility, good listening, and open-minded dialogue — can help us shape a richer, more connected humanist community.
Humanism, if we get it right, has the potential to be a countercultural force for good in our divided world. And our Compass sessions have been, in many ways, a microcosm of what our humanist group can be in the future — a living experiment in conversation, connection, and shared growth.
David has also chosen three classic songs to play on the piano which link with some of the themes we have spoken about. So bring your reflections, your hopes, and your voice — as we carry the compass forward together.
