🎉 10 Years AWS User Group Dortmund 🎉

On 7 December 2016, 29 people signed up for the kick-off of a brand-new user group at Materna in Dortmund. Christian Elsenhuber and Sabine Maier from AWS came over, the first talk was "Serverless Computing with Lambda - an introduction", and one slide on the agenda asked the room: How often do we want to meet - once a quarter or six times a year?
Ten years, more than 50 meetups and 1,415 RSVPs later, we know the answer. And we think that deserves a party. 🎉
⠀
Agenda

• 17:00 Uhr: Doors open - anniversary reception with drinks and snacks
• 17:45 Uhr: Welcome by Sven Seiler - ten years in ten minutes
• 18:00 Uhr: tba, more details will follow soon
• Afterwards: Celebrating, networking, food and drinks

⠀
Ten years in numbers

• 1,216 members and 1,415 RSVPs since the kick-off on 7 December 2016
around 40 speakers from AWS, partners and our own community
• hosts from Materna, e-Spirit, Synaigy and adesso to Storm Reply, a visit to ATAMYA in Bochum - and in 2020 our living rooms, live on Twitch
• our record so far: 64 RSVPs for "Terraforming your AWS Cosmos" in February 2020

Our first hackathon in March 2017 was about Alexa skills. Ten years later, we build agents that roll dice, look up rules and talk to each other. So that's exactly what we do on our birthday.

Thank you
To everyone who spoke, hosted, sponsored, organised or simply showed up over the last ten years: this evening is for you. Bring the colleague you met at your first meetup.
