We will be introducing the concepts of design thinking as it applies to storefront and urban innovation. Every two weeks we will have a brief exercise to introduce aspects of design thinking as it applies to a topic of choice.
For October - November, we will be exploring the topic of storefront interactions as it relates to our urban environment. Bustling storefronts have long been a fixture of vibrant urban spaces. A storefront is often more than just a storefront. Neighborhood institutions like bodegas, barbershops, cafés and the like serve as places for social interaction and civic engagement. Coffeeshops and restaurants have become makeshift co-working spaces reflecting the present and the future of work. Shop windows serve to entice customers but also as canvases for artists to inspire and provoke. Even as online shopping gains more and more marketshare, online-first retailers are recognizing the importances of brick and mortar shops as showrooms and brand showcases.
Come prepared to introduce yourself, why you are interested in design thinking and design doing, and expect to have interactive exercises that would help you experience how to use design thinking.
For our third meet-up, we will be working on the module of [IDEATE]. As a group, you will generate up to 100 ideas based on the topic we defined together.
