Lightning talks are quick (10-12 minutes) snack-sized sessions about a topic, could be a quick demo or a couple of slides, or even just a monologue - we'll cram as many as we can into this session, our first time at Northcoders.

Talks:

  • Phil Whittaker - Using ChatGPT for Better Software Estimates
  • Monica Morales - Bridging the gap between UX Designer & Developers
  • Fikret Ellek - Code your future demo from the NW6 Class
  • Oli Newsham - securing critical secrets: defeating evil maids with glitter
  • Galina Ostroumova – What drives you to persist and go through challenging experience on the way to your dream?
  • Dan Errington - Elegant reflection with expressions

It's a way of seeing what your fellow attendees are playing with or thinking about, or if you're keen, it's a great way for you to show something interesting you've been tinkering with, or a topic where you don't have enough content for a long talk.
With our friendly attendees, this is a safe place to dip your toe into speaking in front of an audience. If you want to apply for a spot, please fill in the form here https://forms.office.com/r/fJKMF6gNHN

Venue

This meeting is at Northcoders, Manchester, inside Manchester Technology Centre; this is in the campus of Manchester Met University on Oxford Road. It's a white building opposite the Met's engineering building, next to Hatch and the Mancunian Way flyover and has a Tesco Express on the ground floor. Five minutes walk from Oxford Road Railway Station. If you need help finding us - tweet us @DotNetNorth.

There will be someone in the foyer who will sign you in and then tell you how to find the venue.

This is a free event - there is no charge for a ticket.
We often get enough RSVP's for there to be a waiting list; the list has always cleared by the early part of the week of the talk, but this relies on you releasing your ticket if you can no longer attend. Please remember to do this if your plans change.

Please ensure we have an email address that you do look at, so we can let you know of any last minute changes; and please use your full name on the site as it's the only way we, or the fire service, can account for you in the case of an evacuation/emergency/fire etc.

Catering will be provided, courtesy of Northcoders. If you have any special dietary requirements please let us know when you RSVP.

If you would need assistance to leave the building in the event of an evacuation then please let us know when you RSVP.

Note for recruitment professionals - we don't exclude recruiters from our meetings but we would ask you to contact Rick Garner for a brief chat before you start attending.
