A lightning talk is a very short presentation lasting only a few minutes, given at a conference or a similar forum. Several lightning talks will usually be delivered by different speakers in a single session, sometimes called a data blitz.

👗 Pride and Prejudice and C# with Simon Painter
Who doesn't like Jane Austen? She's kick-arse and awesome. The only problem though, is that she didn't write a great deal. Just 6 (ish) books? Not enough! In this talk, I'm going to show how, with a bit of C#, some relatively simple maths, and a bit of Blue-Peter-Style creativity, we can automatically generate as much Jane Austen as anyone in their right mind would ever want. I might even show you how this is useful in your day job as well!

😎 A Zero Downtime Azure Migration Adventure with Danny Jones
How we migrated 4 million records and modernized a significant portion of a monolithic system to a standalone Azure service right under the nose of our customers. In this talk, I’ll describe the steps we took to pull a key piece of our product that was scattered within an existing on-premise monolith out and into its own separately deployable domain. I’ll discuss the benefits and drawbacks to our approach, what we would do differently next time and how the work has benefitted our customers and agility.

There are many flows and in this ambitious lightning talk we take a brief look at these, introducing the relatively unknown flow; Device Code Flow showing how it fills a gap created by the rise of IoT.

John Kilmister is a software engineer that enjoys exploring new technologies to solve real-world problems.

With a degree in Information Management Systems and background at e-commerce companies, he currently works as the principal software architect at the UK largest gym, leading teams working on both web and mobile applications.
