Welcome to the Downtown Brooklyn Empty Nesters Group! I am admittedly not an empty nester myself, but I have been deeply inspired by my experience helping my mom create a group like this in our hometown (Princeton, NJ) that has absolutely taken off! It was eye-opening to see how many people are looking for a new community, friendship, and camaraderie in this new stage of life and how powerful it was for my mom's group (which started out as complete strangers) to come together and support each other with figuring out how to embrace the changes and find new sources of purpose and joy.
I would love to help replicate my mom's experience here in downtown Brooklyn where I live, and create a space that is dedicated exclusively to all of you. I will organize a few events and opportunities to kick off and facilitate meetups, and then will happily let you all take over from there :)
