Down Under Divers Club (DUDC) is the largest and longest running independent scuba club in North Carolina, and supports all local dive shops. The DUDC has a monthly meeting at Dave & Busters in Cary, with topics on some aspect of diving, travel, safety or our water environment. You do not have to be a member to come!

Juli Berwald, Ph.D., first joined us in 2022 to discuss her book Life on the Rocks. We're thrilled to welcome her back—this time to share the story of Tela Coral: The Rebel Reef.

After Juli published her book, Life on the Rocks: Building a Future for Coral Reefs, three years ago a marine protected area manager in Honduras reached out to her to say that his reef was misbehaving. Coral that were dying elsewhere were happy in Tela. Juli went to see the reef and it was true. She has since established a non-profit, Tela Coral, to bring science and storytelling to the reef and is working urgently to build the first coral biobank on the Honduran mainland.

We’ll gather starting at 6:30 PM so you have time to order food, drinks, and mingle with fellow divers. The meeting will officially begin at 7:15 PM with announcements, followed by the presentation from our guest speaker. We look forward to seeing you in person! If you can’t attend, don’t worry—you can still participate via Teams and be part of the action.
