DUDC June Meeting: Dr. Matias NochettoM.D., Director of Medical Services at DAN
Details
Down Under Divers Club (DUDC) is the largest and longest running independent scuba club on the East Coast, and supports all local dive shops. The DUDC has a monthly meeting at Dave & Busters in Cary, with topics on some aspect of diving, travel, safety or our water environment. You do not have to be a member to come!
For our June club meeting, we’re excited to welcome Matias Nochetto, M.D., Director of Medical Services at DAN, who will be joining us to share with knowledge about Barotrauma.
The pressure changes associated with diving have significant effects on the lungs, ears, sinuses and other gas-filled cavities of the human body. In this lecture, Matias Nochetto, M.D., discusses the mechanisms and outcomes of barotraumas in diving — from the mundane to the rare and bizarre. With a better understanding of how barotraumas happen, divers and dive professionals will be better able to both prevent and treat them.
About Matias Nochetto, M.D.: He is the Director of Medical Services at DAN, where he has worked since 2006. He is co-director of the DAN-UHMS continuing medical education program and a faculty member of several national and international diving medicine courses and programs. He became a dive instructor (1999) during medical school, which led him to complete a three-year clinical and research fellowship in hyperbaric and diving medicine to combine the two passions.
We’ll start gathering at 6:30 PM so you can eat, drink, and connect with fellow divers. We’ll kick off the meeting at 7:15 PM with announcements, then hear from our guest speaker. We hope to see you there in person! Can’t make it? You’re welcome to join us on Teams.
