Experience Dragon boating : Paddle with us on the lake!

Details

Paddle with us on the lake! This is our first water season try it out. We will first spend 30 minutes introducing you to our team, run through safety, teach paddling techniques. Then spend 30 minutes paddling together in an actual dragon boat.

because it will be early into the water season. We recommend you bring extra layers of clothing to keep you warm as you paddle, it is always better to shed layers, than to not have enough. If you have neoprene gloves/boots/leggings, it will be highly recommended.

Free fresh dim sum will be served on site!

This session is free to try out and meet our team :)

** if you are interested in attending this event, please fill out this intake form in order for us to better track attendance **

Come try out the sport and meet our awesome team!

This event is hosted by the Water Vipers Dragon Boat Team

More information on the sport.

Dragon boating has been rooted in Chinese tradition for over 2000 years. It has exploded across a wide variety of populations from recreational to elite athletes, able and special needs. It's growth can be attributed to it's need to have over 22 people on one team and the special bond that's created when training and racing with 10 women and 10 men together. It's the ultimate team sport.

The Water Vipers Dragon Boat team has been known for the last 15 years as a team that gets the most out of what it puts in whether its time, money and fun. Learn more about our team online here.

Season in brief: We have two teams one for those whose goals are to compete at the highest levels and commit what it takes to get there and those that are looking for something more relaxed.

Our practice days are Saturdays 9:00 am, and Wednesdays 7:30 pm weekly from beginning of May until September

We recommend a 1 day commitment (must make it to 1 practice per week) for all team members in order to best prepare for our regattas throughout the season.

We race four times a season. Once in May, June, July, and September.
All races will be in Toronto region.

We also have an completely optional out of city race. This year we are travelling to Hong Kong to race in June!

We welcome people with experience and without and of all backgrounds. You do not need to be able to swim. Life jackets will be provided and mandatory.

Youth from age 13 are also welcomed to join our new youth team.
