Walk & Draw in Bogenhausen | Fri @ 16:00

Details

What?
Let’s meet at the little park at the Steinbacherstraße in Bogenhausen for a casual drawing/painting session. There are dozens of gorgeous potential subjects in the area: buildings, ponds, churches, bridges, trees, ducks, parks, tiny forests, Jugendstil houses, hidden streets, the Isar, construction sites, and more. If people interest you more, there are bus and tram stops too (but don’t be creepy!). We may go to the Monte Gelati Eismanufaktur as a reward for our creative output afterwards ;-)
Do I need to be good at drawing to join?
No! The organisers certainly aren’t. In fact, you're perfectly welcome even if you haven't drawn anything since you were 9 years of age.
Cost?
None. We’re just a bunch of normal people who are probably worse at drawing than you are, and who want to do so in a supportive environment, without judgement. By the same measure, please note that no expert guidance will be provided, although we will of course offer friendly (and likely wrong) advice to each other as we go.
Where?
To find the park where we plan to start, you can google Steinbacherstr. 4, but don't ring any bells, we have no idea who lives there! :D
We’ll be the people holding notebooks and pencils and awkwardly staring at things somewhere in the area. Everybody is free to choose their subject, so we may not be exactly where you’re searching. Just walk around until you find us, the area is gorgeous.
When? Do I need to be right on time?
Nah, we’re relaxed. We’ll start around 16:00 and probably be there until at least 18:00, so feel free to come late. Just make sure to bring your charged phone so we can catch up in case you don’t easily find us by walking around the Steinbacherstr. area.
What should I bring?
The obvious: 1) Any kind of paper with a blank surface (even office paper printed on one side), and 2) Anything to draw or paint with (pencils, mechanical pencils, ballpens, graphite bars, markers… anything that will leave a trace). You don’t need pro materials; we can talk about that when we meet.
Depending on how long we stay, we’ll probably get hungry, so do bring a snack. We’ll very likely go for ice cream too ;)
If you’re bringing loose paper or a soft notebook, bring something harder too, so that you have a solid surface to draw on. If you bring pens or markers, make sure to test them beforehand.
Don’t bring your best clothes, you’ll probably want to sit on the floor quite a bit. You may want to bring gloves; your hands may get cold as you keep them exposed to the cold air.
Your phone will be helpful too; not only to find each other, but also to take pictures of the subject (as long as it’s not a person!) in case you want to finish your piece later, and also of your work as you progress (…in my case, before I ruin it by deciding that I want to add shading…).
