Sean is in New York to receive the Best in Show award at the 18th International ARC Salon, presented by the Art Renewal Center at Sotheby’s on Madison Avenue — one of the most prestigious honors in contemporary representational art. A recent winner of the Packing Room Prize at the Archibald, Australia’s most celebrated portrait competition, Sean brings a rare, in-person perspective to this one-night-only appearance.

In this talk, Sean will share his approach to planning compelling compositions, drawing on historical and contemporary examples alongside insights from his own practice. Expect a candid look at how a finished painting is built — the decisions, the reference-gathering, and the visual storytelling that hold an image together.

A valuable opportunity for artists and art enthusiasts alike to deepen their understanding of composition and visual narrative, and to put questions directly to one of the field’s most exciting figurative painters.

Hosted by Drawing America Studios at the National Arts Club, 15 Gramercy Park South.
