Durham Plein Air at CCB Plaza

Details
Grab your travel-friendly painting supplies and/or sketchbook and join us for some art outdoors. All levels welcome!
I'm testing out holding urban sketching meets in the evenings so as to not overlap with other meetups and also for a different vibe/experience. No home baseball game is on this night so hopefully parking and traffic will be ok. The event starts at 5pm to take advantage of daylight, but feel free to arrive later if you're okay doing a quicker sketch. I'll stay in the CCB Plaza area so you can find me any time.
CCB Plaza is the home of Major The Bull, a 10-foot tall bronze sculpture. It also features the Empire State Building's shorter twin.
At 7:00pm, meet together again for an optional "throw down" where we can admire each other's work.
Event will be canceled in case of poor weather. I will send an email update from Meetup if this happens, so RSVP here to get the updates (will only send to people who replied yes).
Tips
- Wear comfortable clothing for the weather and supportive shoes for walking on uneven terrain.
- Bring a hat, sunscreen, and bug spray.
- Bring water and any other beverages or snacks you may want. (several bars and eateries nearby this one)
- If you don't have an easel or don't prefer standing, bring a folding chair/stool or picnic blanket. (some chairs and tables are available in the plaza)
- Make sure you're able to carry your supplies for short to medium distances, depending on your preferred painting location. (and distance from parking)
- Be aware of your surroundings and the weather. Watch out for uneven terrain and signs of heat exhaustion. Hike at your own risk. Stay hydrated.
- Leave the area as you found it or better. Bring any trash out with you.
