The New Year of Light & Sound, Sound of Soul Event

The Eckankar spiritual new year is celebrated on October 22nd, marking a time of spiritual harvest and re-dedication for ECKists. It is the date the Living ECK Master historically begins their spiritual duties, signifying the high point of the spiritual cycle.

This event will include:
A short reading or quote
HU Chant for 20 minutes
A few minutes of contemplative time
Spiritual Conversation on the Spiritual New Year, Passing of the Rod of ECK Power, and any other spiritual questions you may have.
This discussion will finish around 9:30 pm.

The Year of Light & Sound
The first of the spiritual years of ECK. This spiritual year embodies the following secret: Hearing the Secret Voice of God.
The Light & Sound, taken together, are the Voice of God, the Holy Spirit. They form a cosmic wave that goes out from the heart of God to the ends of creation.
The Mahanta, the Living ECK Master’s job is to help Soul learn to catch that wave which then flows home to God.

Passing of the Rod of ECK Power
This year Sri Harold Klemp, the MAHANTA, the Living ECK Master, will announce his successor—the next MAHANTA, the Living ECK Master at the Worldwide ECK Seminar in Minneapolis on Saturday evening, 25 October. The last occasion of succession occurred on October 22, 1981, when Sri Harold’s term as the spiritual leader of ECKANKAR began.

The change in spiritual leadership is always a step forward for the consciousness of the worlds. The role of the Living ECK Master has always been to awaken the love for the divine things already within the human heart.

All the ECK masters gather in the Valley of Shangta to see the departing master pass the Rod of ECK Power to his successor, and greet him. This rite traditionally occurs at midnight, leading up to October 22. We will gather in the ECK Centre and online to connect with the Light & Sound, the Holy Spirit, and possibly with the passing of the Rod of ECK Power.
