Data Science Panel Discussion

Details

Welcome to the next meeting of Women in Machine Learning and Data Science (WiMLDS) in Dresden!

In this event, we are going to have a panel discussion on the Data Science topic. We are honoured to host three wonderful data scientists from AOK Plus, Otto Group Solution Provider, and Max Planck Institute in Dresden as our panelists.

Have you been thinking about getting into the world of data science & machine learning and want to know more about it? Are you working in the field already? Or, are you interested in what a data scientist does? You are all most welcome to join us as we bring in a panel of data science professionals from academia and industry to discuss various data science topics: What is data science? What skills are required to work as a data scientist? And other exciting questions!

All genders are cordially invited to attend this event.

Since October 2018, Sarah has been working on utilizing machine learning to solve problems in retail and logistics at Otto Group Solution Provider in Dresden.

Kira Vinogradova is a PhD student in the group of Prof. Gene Myers at MPI-CBG since 2018. Her research is focused on semantic image segmentation and explainable AI. Before starting the PhD, Kira obtained her bachelor’s degree in Applied Mathematics and Physics from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology. She has been a summer intern at the IST Austria and the University of Heidelberg, she has also worked part-time at Kurchatov Institute and at Samsung Research Institute Russia.

Stefan Weigert graduated with a PhD from TU dresden in 2015; mostly worked on algorithms and distributed systems for processing large social graphs together with at&t research. He worked at lovoo until 2018; helped to build the "data" team at lovoo (including data science and data engineering) and became its head in 2016. Since 2018 he works as a data scientist at AOK plus. He is also one of the founders of the MLDD meetup in Dresden.

About our moderator:

Shima Asaadi is a research scientist at Fraunhofer IIS Erlangen. She did her PhD in machine learning and natural language processing at TU Dresden.
