You know fall is officially here when you see tsukimi (moon viewing) food items and goods everywhere!
For this event, I thought it would be cool to check out one of Tokyo’s coolest subculture neighborhoods under the glow of the moon.

That’s right! The star of the show is the famous 7-meter-tall glowing “Museum of the Moon” installation. This outdoor event also features a bustling marketplace with local food trucks and craft beer.
This event is completely free to join! We will be sticking to the outdoor, public festival areas, so no paid tickets are required. Bring cash, card or digital payments for food and drinks.
📍 Meeting Details
Date & Time: Saturday, September 26th at 16:00.
Meeting Point: Outside Shimokitazawa Station East Exit.
📝 The Agenda (subject to change)
16:00-16:15 Meet & greet outside the station. We’ll wait a few minutes for everyone to arrive.
16:15-17:15 Stroll down the Shimokita Senrogai tracks to view the outdoor public art installations, digital sculptures, and unique festival atmosphere.
17:15 – 19:00 Moon Viewing & Social Hour.
We will head down the path to view and photograph the Giant 7-Meter Moon from the public walkway right outside the Akichi lot (it’s huge and elevated, so we get a perfect view for free!). Afterward, we can walk over to the BONUS TRACK courtyard. This open-air public space features completely free art installations, seating areas, and local food vendors.
19:00-20:00 Official wrap-up. We can check out some local cafes, bars or restaurants or head back to Machida station and keep the night going!
⚠️ Important Notes
Comfort: We will be walking outdoors for a majority of the event, so please wear comfortable walking shoes!
Crowds: This is a popular festival. Please try to arrive on time so we don't lose each other in the crowd.
Weather: The weather is constantly changing as Japan shifts from summer to fall, so there’s always the possibility of rain in the forecast. ☔️
