Drink and Draw - Dayton: Ichthyocalypse
Details
Fish, or well marine life generally, have always been a personal source of inspiration for me. I would watch aquarium fish for hours whenever I was some place that had them. I also grew up living on a lake and would swim out to our families anchored diving raft holding a loaf of old bread, a plastic bucket, and a net out of the water so I could watch them swim around and look at them in more detail.
I know now that that kind of interaction was probably not healthy for the fish, but I still really appreciate learning about the way fish move and how their shapes evolved that way, especially when it comes to really deep ocean or arctic fish. For this event, I am planning to bring a lot of fish anatomy and motion related books, and maybe some fish figures if I can find ones with a reasonable level of detail. Accuracy isn't important though, just draw or paint make whatever fish related art you would like.
The event is also fittingly at The Little Fish Brewery Company - Dayton near Webster and First Street, which may or may not be receptive to the fish theme, but their food and beer is delicious regardless. Feel free to bring your preferred drawing media. I will bring extra paper and drawing media if people forget basic materials.
