I'm sure I could write a lot about how cool August is, but who better to do so than longtime friend of DAMs and August workshop attendee, Rob Weisberg:

Hello, all NYC Museum peeps,

I wanted to make a special plug for checking out this Drinking about Museums with special guests from August, an organizational design company based here in New York. I attended a workshop earlier this year on "individual barriers to organizational change" and it was a great chance to learn some skills in dealing with difficult people (not that we have people like that in museums!) and also to meet people from the greater NYC creative culture and to see that many of the problems we deal with in museum spaces aren’t so unique to our field. Organizational culture firms are the kind of resource that museums should take more advantage of—who of us hasn’t seen an outside reorganization consultant come in, interview a bunch of people (never me, but that’s another story), and wonder, what was all that about? I believe that org culture companies are offering an experience much more focused on individual development. And they’re really nice people. Hope to see you on the 20th!
