It's been a little while between events, so let's get things going again and kick things off with a mega Xmas Party!

This event is going to suit those who live on the North side of Sydney, or those who don't mind a bit of travel for a fun night. It's not that long a drive to Hornsby! You are Smooth Drivers, after all!

We have been invited by Meetup group Amazing Hornsby and Surrounds to a Meetup Christmas Party to be held at the Hornsby RSL club. In the past some of their members have participated in some of our events, so now it's great to be invited to one of their events.

Now, every Smooth Driver is invited to come along, either as singles or with a partner. Given our group has a heavy bias in membership numbers towards males, here is the good news for the guys....the current RSVP list for the Xmas Party has many more ladies than guys attending. But that shouldn't deter you Smooth Driving Ladies from coming along and having a good time as well.

We will enjoy a delicious Christmas buffet and dance the night away with a 19 piece big band. Because the majority of those attending will be singles, there will be a focus on letting you meet as many single people as possible, with simple activities that will automatically introduce you to new people throughout the night.

The band is amazingly good, super professional and will play all sorts of dance music.

The host Meetup group, Amazing Hornsby & Surrounds, already has 31 people who have RSVP'd. And because we are a singles-oriented group, I think you will be interested to know that the gender mix so far is 9 gents and 22 ladies, which I expect will even-up closer to the date because guys are usually quite slow at RSVP'ing. There are plenty of tables available, so we will have the luxury of putting people on individual tables within specific age group ranges.

I attended Amazing Hornsby's Xmas party last year and the band is absolutely fantastic, I even had an opportunity to sing with them myself. If anyone feels a little courageous and wants their own chance to have a warble (and I don't mean karaoke), go the band's website and look at their playlist....and I will try to make it happen for you. Just let me know via a direct message in the Meetup app.

Cost: $ 75.00 per person.

Dress code: Cocktail - with a little splash of red...hey, it's Christmas after all!

Theme: Australian - Cocktail Hats for the ladies and Hats for the gentlemen. (Be creative because the best hats get prizes). And there is no specific Xmas theme, they don't have to be specific Xmas designs, you could something with a current affairs theme, or a singles theme. You could be extra loyal to the Smooth Drivers Club and have an automotive-themed hat. Whatever works for you.

The point of the hat idea is that it is a social ice-breaker, and it gets complete strangers talking and laughing and getting to know new people better....which is the whole point of Meetup.Com after all.
