Drive up Macquarie Pass, lunch at the Robertson Cheese Factory

Meet at McDonald's Heathcote for coffee and breakfast at 8:30am. From there we will leave the Princes Highway at the Helensburgh turnoff so we can drive on the Sea Cliff Bridge.

There will be a couple of detours to quickly stop at interesting places that are only a little out of the way. Then we will take in a true driver's road, the Macquarie Pass, 8km of twists and hairpin turns, with steep gradients all the way. It is a popular drive for car and bike clubs, so it is very likely we will have other enthusiasts for company, and interesting machinery to admire.

Lunch will be at the cafe of The Old Robertson Cheese Factory, which has a great reputation for great food. After lunch you can either take the fast way home along the M32 / Hume Freeway, but for those who want just a little more of a drive, there will be a route planned through some interesting parts of the Southern Highlands on the way home. I'm not telling now because that would spoil the surprise element.

Because there is a heavy bias of males in this group, I will be publicising these events to other Meetup groups which have a female bias in their membership.

As some of these ladies are not necessarily keen on the actual driving part of these events, many are keen to be driven and love a country drive, so there will likely be some ladies turning up looking for a seat. Meetup.com exists to facilitate people meeting new people, so this is a wonderful opportunity for people to meet and spend quality time uninterrupted for a couple of hours in a car, just talking and taking in the sights. Ideally there should be a swap of passengers at lunch time, so that you get an opportunity to sharpen your social skills with 2 people on the day, plus the group social interaction over lunch.

McDonald's Heathcote is about 1km from Heathcote Railway station, so if we know you are coming by train, we can arrange to collect you and bring you back.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The date, the starting point, everything is flexible here. If enough people wish to have this drive on another day because they can't make it, post a message and be heard. I picked this date as a way of getting back into events ASAP, and for the fact that lots of people will be on holidays as well. But if it is unpopular, let us know and it can be changed.
