About speakers:
Ian Muceus is a co-founder, lead inventor & CTO at Firestorm Labs, building unmanned aerial systems (UAS), tactical air drones and mobile modular container labs for in-field drone manufacturing. His previous experience includes defense equipment, additive manufacturing, data management SW. He started his carrier at NASA Ames Research Center designing a commercial, 100-passenger, medium-range, blended wing body (BWB) aircraft.
Charles Chiau is a founder & CTO, Bedrock Ocean, making underwater autonomous vehicles, sonars. Previously he was doing underwater robotics designs at KaGe Labs as founder and principal engineer, avionics system integration at SpaceX, electronics for deep water vehicles at Hawkes Ocean Technologies. He studied electrical engineering and computer science at UC Berkeley.
Robert "RB" Havens is a founder and CTO of Tiburon Subsea, an autonomous underwater vehicle technology manufacturer and service provider startup. In his more than 15 years at Tiburon Subsea he has accumulated thousands of hours of open water AUV operations and management experience. RB is a founder and technical advisor for the Lost 52 Project, a not for profit that utilizes deep AUV systems to search for and document the 52 US submarines that went missing during WWII. Before joining Tiburon, RB was the Public Works Director for the City of Key West, FL. He has more than 30 years of engineering and project management experience in marine and industrial environments ranging from waste-to-energy power plants to state-of-the-art marine robotics. He is also the current VP of North Florida Springs Alliance, a not-for-profit CSO that provides funding for environmental research, volunteers and maintenance assistance to five of Florida's State Parks.
Michael Jones is co-founder and CEO of SubSeaSail (SSS), a San Diego-based firm with 7 issued US patents and 8 patents pending in Australia, Europe and US. SSS is developing two kinds of disruptively affordable, 100% energy harvesting, long-duration, multi-mission Autonomous Underwater & Surface Vehicles (AUSVs). One is a monohull TRL 7-8 observation vehicle HORUS and the other TRL 5-6 multi-hull (trimaran) HERMES cargo/energy/METOC vehicle. Both vehicles will be able to submerge to hide from bad actors/weather and function in contested environments. Michael was a commercial banker for 8 years, an investment banker for 30 years and an angel investor in more that 30 companies. He has a B.A from University of Arizona and a M.A. from the Johns Hopkins University "School of Advanced International Studies."
James McFarlane is a SVP at Strategic Robotic Systems in San Diego, manufacturing ROV (underwater remotely operated vehicles). Previously 15 years as a director, manager and subsea pilot at Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI).
Michael Sims is a founder and CEO of Ceres Robotics, that was on-boarded in the NASA CLPS program with SpaceX, Blue Origin, and Sierra Nevada to be future suppliers of lunar landers. Prior to Ceres Robotics, Sims was Senior Scientist at Mars Institute, Vice President at Moon Express and a 20+ year veteran of NASA. During that time, he worked on artificial intelligence and robotics principally focused on planetary rovers, including Mars Pathfinder, and Mars Spirit and Opportunity missions.
