What we’re about

About the Druids of the Mists:

• Our grove has its roots in Minnesota with the Reformed Druids of North America (RDNA). It is an American Neo-Druidic organization that was formed in 1963 at Carleton College, Northfield, Minnesota, as a humorous protest against the college's required attendance of religious services. Despite its humorous beginnings, it was the root from which other North American Druid groups were born.

• Ár nDraíocht Féin (ADF): A Druid Fellowship was one of these groups founded in 1983. From ADF, came the Henge of Keltria founded in 1988 with groves in Minnesota, Massachusetts, and Texas. Our first grove, Mists of Stone Forest, started as a Keltrian grove holding its first ritual on Lughnasadh in 1995 CE in a very warm South Minneapolis basement. As part of a thriving and diverse Pagan Community, we grew in number. With all growth comes change and a shifting of perceptions. We disassociated with Keltria as a grove in 1996. There are still members of the grove that hold membership within Keltria.

• The name Mists of Stone Forest was a gift from a scrying for our grove identity. As our community continues to grow, we expected there to be other "Mists of" groves. We believe in a strong community grounded in shared ritual worship and magic. Our rituals take place for the most part in private homes and on private lands, some exceptions being the local pagan events and grove attendance at regional pagan festivals.

• With COVID, many of our members were hard hit by this disease. It became necessary for one of our members to move somewhere that was more wheelchair accessible, and so he began the second grove within the Mists - the Ocean Mists. It is our hope to grow a strong Druid community here in South Florida that can contribute to the Pagan communities present in the area. Our focus is on growth, healing, magic, and community.
