Dev Roundtable (#CADUG) - Composer

Details
This week our main focus will working with Composer.
• What is composer and why use it?
• How to start using composer for modules when the Drupal was installed via zipfile
• Automated deployment when you're using composer
• Whether or not to commit the vendor and modules/contrib directories
• Submitting modules to packagist and the difference between packagist and drupal.org's package repository
• What to do if a module does not have a composer.json?
• Do you drush or do you composer?
Before we wrap up discussion we want to give everyone the opportunity to ask any general questions about Drupal 8.
Schedule
615p - Meet and greet and food
630p - Talk about working with Drupal and Composer
715p - Discuss problems anyone is having with Drupal 8
730p - Wrap up discussion
Speakers Wanted!
We are looking for 1-2 speakers to come in and present formally on Drupal and tech-related topics. Please contact the organizers if you're interested in speaking at a future Dev Roundtable.
Lightning Talks
Attendees are encourage to present for 10 minutes on a topic of their choosing. Show off a recent project, get audience feedback for your next big idea, demo a cool new module, give a marketing case study or just talk about anything else Drupal related. No slides or presentation skills are required. Short yet informative talks are the goal.
Advanced Drupal Discussions
We encourage Drupalists of all levels to get together for open-ended discussions. Members are encouraged to bring their ideas, questions, and other anecdotes to the table. The meetup typically covers a myriad of advanced Drupal related topics during these informal "BoF" type sessions.
