Design Systems Manchester Vol.2

Following on from Vol.1, which we held back in May at Thoughtworks, this time around we have Matt Tyas from Co-op doing a talk for us. We'll also have a group discussion based on themes from his talk.

One of the aspects we want to experiment with at these meet-ups is how to make it become a community, different formats we can try, and how to include you all in the events themselves.

Last time round we tried some impromptu introductions from the audience - feel free to volunteer to tell us about your DS journey or make it a show & tell and have a few minutes to walk us through your design system!

Matt's talk, "Your design system is made of people" will be about how valuable the non-code parts of your DS are. They help build advocacy from non-designers and therefore raise your products' profile.

A bit about our speaker
Matt is Head of Design at the Co-op and a director of the Manchester-based media platform Finest Group. Specialising in design leadership, strategy, product management, UX, accessibility, and front-end engineering.

He's a generalist in service design, content design, and user research. Matt loves design at scale and the challenges that come with it, empowering designers and making sure they have a seat at the table. He's best at helping others do their best.
