The Des Moines chapter of the Iowa Data Professionals (IDPA) will meet the Monday before the 2nd Wednesday of the new month. The 2nd Wednesday of the new month is reserved by Quad City PASS.

Meetup Organizers will start the Microsoft Teams meeting at 5:30 PM, Central Time (22:30 UTC), and will then admit attendees into the remote meeting.

Please connect, eat your dinner and network with other data professionals until the meeting is called to order.

At 5:50 PM Central Time (23:00 UTC) our Local Group Leader will call the meeting to order with brief announcements.

At 6:00 PM Central Time (23:00 UTC) we will introduce the featured speaker, Javier Villegas.

Title: Troubleshooting Azure SQL & SQL Server using Extended Events

Description:

In this session, we will talk about how to use Extended Events (XEvents) to monitor, identify, and troubleshoot performance issues in Azure SQL Database, Managed Instance and SQL Server.

XEvents is a lightweight and scalable event-handling system that provides a detailed view of the database engine.

You will learn how to create, modify, and drop event sessions and how to analyze the captured event data using different targets.

You will also learn how to avoid common errors and pitfalls.
