About us

Design Thinking & Innovation (DT&I) is a community of creative people who seek to share their skill & knowledge to create a meaningful positive impact in the community. Our focus is designing for change and creating positive social impact using techniques in Human Centered Design (Design Thinking), UX & Lean.

Our mission is to create communities by educating, building relationships, establishing meaningful goals and seeking fieldwork in the community in Houston and beyond. We aim to connect interested individuals and learn about Design Thinking, Service Design, and User Experience. We encourage the sharing of knowledge during our events. We welcome individuals who have a passion for learning & personal growth but more importantly look forward to designing and developing better communities.

DT&I is the community of progressive brains about practicing the skills that could bring greater change. This is a forum to bring on people from processes, product and service design backgrounds. Come share the expertise you have if you already work in any of the above areas. If you are new to the design process then this is your place to learn new design approaches.

    Hi Design Thinkers

The July 2026 event at DT&I, we have a special talk that brings together the concepts of Agentic AI workflows and the practical aspects of creating with AI that transforms the way you do design. Our guest speaker is Megan Ducote.

Megan is a relational technologist and design leader who builds tools for community, organizing, and civic infrastructure. She writes and speaks on decentralized technology; post-platform experiences and the future designers are positioned to shape.

This session opens the hood on agentic workflows: moving from intent to a working tool, where you stay in the loop, where the agent runs on its own, and what the handoffs between you and the system actually look like. Not a chatbot you ask for ideas, but a way of working that produces things that run.

For a long time design has lived a few doors down from development. We hand off, we advocate, we translate. When a designer can move from intent to a working thing themselves, that distance closes, and the question of where design sits and what it's allowed to shape opens back up. The same capability raises a quieter question: once you can build almost anything, what is worth building? The work shown here leans toward the local over the extractive, the sufficient over the endlessly scaled, tools that keep people close rather than capturing them.

We look forward to seeing you at this intriguing session.
