Hi All,

Our September event will bring in deep concepts on Additive Manufacturing (AM), our guest speaker Mikhail is an expert on the technology and process. This event will give you a chance to get insights on system thinking of manufacturing world and how the design impacts the supply-chain.

Mikhail Gladkikh serves as Field CTO and VP Alliances at nPower Technologies, driving industry partnerships, customer growth, and technology strategy. He brings extensive expertise in advanced manufacturing and digital supply chains, including 17 years at Baker Hughes across highly regulated industries. His experience spans oil & gas, turbomachinery, and hydrodynamics, leading complex product development and go-to-market initiatives. Known for combining deep engineering knowledge with strategic product leadership, he helps bring scalable technologies to market. Previously, he led the launch of Würth Additive Group’s Digital Inventory Services, enabling secure, traceable digital supply chains through additive manufacturing.

Additive Manufacturing (AM) is usually introduced as a faster way to make prototypes. That framing misses what it actually changes: AM removes most geometric and material constraints that every subtractive and formative process imposes on the designer, and in doing so, it unlocks the freedom to create novel objects using novel methods. This talk opens with an overview of various AM modalities, their benefits and drawbacks,
followed by examples of consumer products and industrial applications (oil and gas, automotive, aerospace). We then focus on the design freedom: conformal internal channels that cannot be drilled, consolidated assemblies that eliminate joints and fasteners, multi-material and functionally graded components with varying stiffness,
conductivity, or thermal response across a single part with no discrete material
boundary, and mechanical meta-materials such as auxetic lattices whose negative
Poisson ratio produces behavior no bulk material exhibits. These are designs that had
no manufacturing route until now, and they demand systems thinking that starts from
function rather than from a catalog of machinable features. For such designs, geometry
and material selection stop being constraints.

However complex this session sounds like, it is going to be lot of fun. We look forward to seeing you at this intriguing session.
