What we’re about
Are you eager to dive into the world of Dungeons & Dragons, especially the old-school style? We are looking for new members whether you're a newcomer wanting to learn, someone picking it back up, or an experienced player looking for a friendly group.
We play a rules light, fast, old school version of D&D called "Shadowdark" that is easy to learn (We don't play 5e). https://youtu.be/yF7lkKilVnI?t=5

The Portal Under the Stars: A DCC Funnel One-Shot
The South Market food Hall, 2nd floor, Gate Avenue, DIFC, Dubai, AEThe Empty Star rises once every fifty years. Tonight, it shines again.
What is this?
We're running a one-shot using Dungeon Crawl Classics, a tabletop RPG built around dangerous, unpredictable old-school fantasy. If you've only played D&D 5e, expect something grittier with simpler rules and higher stakes. Characters die. Plans fall apart. It's great.
What's a funnel?
Instead of creating one carefully-built character, each player controls 3-4 randomly generated peasants. These aren't heroes yet. They're farmers, ratcatchers, and gravediggers who heard rumours of treasure and decided to risk everything.
You'll guide this mob into a deadly dungeon. Some will die to traps. Some will die to monsters. Some will die in ways that make everyone at the table laugh. The survivors become your actual adventurers, their class determined by what they did and found along the way.
Character death isn't failure here. It's expected, often funny, and part of the story.
The Adventure
Old Man Roberts spent fifty years regretting the treasure he left behind in a strange portal that appeared when he was young. Iron men, jewels, ancient weapons. He saw them all before he fled. Now he's dead, and the Empty Star rises once more.
Will you take the chance he never did?
New Players Welcome
Never played a tabletop RPG before? Perfect. A funnel is an ideal entry point since there's no complex character builds or rules to learn in advance. We'll roll up peasants together at the start and explain the rules as situations come up.
If you've played D&D or other RPGs, you'll pick this up in minutes.
For the curious, here's a link to the quickstart rules, though reading ahead is completely optional: https://www.goodmangames.com/downloads/DCCRPGQuickStartGuide060811.pdf
Attendance
Funnels work best when everyone starts together, so please arrive on time. If something comes up and you'll be late or need to cancel, just message me. I'd rather get a heads up than wait around wondering. Dice and characters are provided, though feel free to bring your own dice if you prefer.1 attendee
