A Sandy Beach Meetup Season Opener!

Intro to Adventure Kayaking! Sharm Rocks, about 1 km away from Snoopy Island, Makes a great skill building Kayak journey! Its not very fun to paddle alone, so lets do it as a group this Saturday! We'll meet at Sandy Beach (also known as Al Aqah Beach) which is the Public Beach next to Sandy Beach Hotel and Resort in Fujairah at 13:00 on Jan 11. We'll kayak as a group out to the rocks, drop anchor from our kayaks and the fall overboard to swim, snorkel, and free-dive around the rocks. For those that haven't kayaked like this before, this is a great opportunity to do open water kayaking in a very safe group-supported environment. You will practice "wet exiting" the kayak into the water, and "Wet Entering" the kayak from the water.

The enjoyment of any kayaking journey is all about the weather and the forecast for Fujairah is excellent this weekend with temps forecast to be 25C, sunny, with minimal wind. This is the season of abundant turtles and high probability of Black Tip Reef shark viewing. Sharm Rocks is a proper dive site, the photo is a legit underwater shot from Sharm Rocks and people pay thousands of dirhams to rent scuba gear and take a 4 min boat ride to the rocks. That seems a bit pricey when you consider its only a 15 min kayak paddle and most of the sights are accessible by swim goggles and breath holding! Sharm Rocks is an adventure that will test your mettle and build your skills, after you have conquered the rocks you can kayak back and explore snoopy island which is a much easier paddle and within sight of the lifeguards and beach bar :)

I recommend attendees make a day of it and consider getting a room at Sandy Beach or the Royal M right next to Sandy Beach or other hotels within a few km of Sandy Beach. Its an incredible getaway from Dubai with abundant marine nature and legit hills and trails across the street for hiking or biking. If enough people are interested we can have a potluck dinner / BBQ Sat night on my Patio at the resort. I will bring my mountain bikes and would love to explore a new trail if anyone is similarly interested. I have additional kayaks and bikes if anyone would like to rent.
