Machine learning workshop: Linear Regression

My name is Aurelie and I am doing a two years part time MSc in Ai online with the university of Limerick ( I am in my second year graduating in August 2025) .

***For this workshop we will be training a machine learning model with Python and Scikit Learn using Linear Regression to predict some data based on some data that I would provide (It won't be my own data but a publicly available dataset and this is a surprise! ) We will also inspect the data and preprocess it before feeding it to the model.

We will be using a jupyter notebook (that I will provide on the day with code examples including the libraries we need to use along with an explanation/lesson about Linear regression which is the algorithm we are going to use to train the model) in google colab. You will need a google account/gmail address to access Google colab. Google colab is free however if the task requires more computational power we may need to pay a once off 10 euros fee to google to access more GPUs (100 compute units). It would be an advantage to have some knowledge of Python or being familiar with other programming languages however we will be using Scikit Learn which is a Python library that makes a lot of machine learning tasks automated and also I would be able to help.

The workshop will last 2 hours.

The workshop will start at 3 pm and ends at 5 pm. It will take place at the Camdem court hotel in Dublin 2. We will sit at the bar as the lounge is usually full, coffees and hot chocolates need to be ordered in the lounge by the restaurant.
