Mathematics of neural networks and of the blockchain

Recently crypto currencies have been in the news and rather volatile. Many of them are based on the blockchain technology, but what's the maths behind it?
Dr Eoin Murphy will talk about the mathematics of the Blockchain.

Neural networks can be used to identify object in images. Brains have been doing it for a long time, more recently computers have been catching up.
Philip Kinlen will talk about the mathematics of neural networks explaining how an algorithm can be trained to recognise a cat.

Prof Paulo Guasoni (http://www.dcu.ie/node/84270) from DCU's department of Mathematical Sciences will talk about exchange traded funds.
