Applied Mathematics

Come for the doughnuts but stay for the maths.

We will have 3 speakers, each will have the floor for 20 minutes to talk about a topic in applied mathematics.

One of or speakers will be Dr Arne Vansteenkiske from Google. He will talk about how ray tracing can be used to generate beautiful, photo realistic images, such as the one above.

There will be a talk by me (Philip) on rational numbers and musical harmony.

Dr David Malone from Maynooth University will also give a talk entitled:
"95 years of the Leaving Cert - Was Science more difficult in 1925?"
